Bahrain's commitment to human rights emphasized

Manama, Sep. 8 (BNA): Foreign Affairs Minister's Assistant for Foreign Affairs, Abdullah bin Faisal Al-Dossari, expressed the keen desire of the Kingdom of Bahrain to instill respect for human rights, preserve human dignity and strengthen its pioneering role in political, civil, religious and cultural areas and freedoms in line with the constitution, national legislations.
Al-Dossari who received today President of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) and Shura Council member, Dr. Abdulaziz Hassan Abul, NIHR Vice President Abdullah Ahmed Al-Derazi, and Commission member Lawyer Fareed Ghazi also stressed the Kingdom's commitments to international covenants and conventions. .
The meeting discussed ways of bolstering cooperation and activating joint efforts and procedures related to the protection of human rights in terms of legislation and institutions under the pioneering royal reforms.
He noted the ministry's commitment to partnership with the legislative, legal, civil and national institutions and its openness on the world via diplomatic channels to highlight Bahrain’s human rights achievements in various regional and international forums and to confront the misleading information campaigns aimed at undermining its gains and distorting its bright image.
Al-Dossari stressed the importance of enhancing coordination and interaction with NIHR for the outstanding efforts it is exerting in partnership with the relevant government and private parties to place the kingdom of Bahrain at the forefront of countries in terms of respect for rights and freedoms and adoption of tolerance, openness and coexistence among all cultures, civilizations and religions, based on its adherence to its constitutional, legal, and voluntary obligations within the mechanism of the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) on human rights.
NIHR President praised the efforts of the Foreign Ministry over Bahrain's human rights issues locally and internationally.
He also commended its endeavours in highlighting the national achievements in respect of preserving public rights and freedoms and promoting the rule of law, in cooperation with official bodies and independent human rights organizations.
