Bahrain's democratic strides stressed

Cairo, Apr. 5 (BNA): Representatives Council Speaker Ahmed bin Ibrahim Al Malla emphasised Bahrain’s success to boost freedom, democracy and human rights. He described the inauguration of the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Co-existence as the kingdom’s civilisational message to promote the concepts of peaceful co-existence and diversity. He also pointed out presenting the Arab Human Rights Court project at the Arab League and the signing of its by-law in the presence of Arab League Secretary General Dr. Ahmed Abul Gheit. The Representatives Council Speaker was speaking before the 27th conference of the Arab Inter-parliamentary Union (AIPU) which is held in Cairo, Egypt, with the participation of Speakers of the Arab parliaments. He extended congratulations to Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi on his re-election to continue spearheading Egypt’s active and influential role as well as its development march. He thanked his Egyptian counterpart Dr. Ali Abdul A’al for the good welcome and hospitality, commending the role of AIPU in tackling Arab and regional issues. The Representatives Council Speaker highlighted issues like terrorism, the Iranian interference, media provocation, biased stances and incredible information by some institutions and organisations. He also brought under the spotlight Iran’s blatant interference in countries’ internal affairs and its clear and explicit support to terrorism. He said the terrorist acts in Bahrain have resulted since 2011 in the death of 22 policemen and the injury of 3437. He thanked the AIPU Speaker for the statement condemning the attempts of the terrorist groups to shake the kingdom’s stability, affirming Bahrain’s ability to deter terrorism thanks to Allah the Almighty and solidarity of friendly and brotherly countries.  Al Malla expressed strong condemnation of Houthis’ ongoing launch of ballistic missiles on cities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, including Riyadh. He also denounced all the terrorist acts committed by the Houthi militias against the Yemeni people and the countries in the region which, he said, affirms the need to support the Arab Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen. He also expressed full support to Egypt and all the countries targeted by terrorism.  The Representatives Council Speaker pointed out the ongoing Israeli crimes and violations in Palestine amid silence of the international community, praising the indefatigable resistance of the Palestinian people and the Arab solidarity with them in their struggle to recover their legitimate rights.
