Bahrain's Permanent Representative to UN participates in open debate on women, peace, security

New York, Mar. 9 (BNA): Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United Nations in New York, Ambassador Jamal Faris Al-Rowaie, participated in the high-level open debate of the Security Council on women, peace and security, which was held marking International Women’s Day. The open debate was chaired by the UAE Minister of Climate Change and Environment, Maryam bint Mohammed Al Muheiri.
The ambassador reiterated the kingdom's support for all international efforts to advance women, ensure gender balance in all development and humanitarian fields, and enhance women's contributions as an active partner in security and peace at all levels. He affirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, places at the forefront of its national priorities the preservation of the highest levels of social security in a way that supports the participation of women in all fields. He asserted that the government, headed by His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, is exerting its utmost efforts to present the projects, programmes and plans necessary to involve women in the comprehensive development process of the kingdom.
The ambassador pointed out that through the participation and cooperation of various relevant governmental and private agencies, with the support and follow-up of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), presided by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Consort of His Majesty the King, the Kingdom of Bahrain was able to achieve sustainable progress in the field of gender balance and the advancement of women, and has moved to the stage of promoting successful national experiences and highlighting best practices at the regional and international levels.
