Bahrain's support for preserving environment stressed

Manama, Mar. 7 (BNA): Executive Director of the Supreme Council of Environment, Dr. Mohammed Mubarak bin Dainah, stressed Bahrain’s keenness to contribute to the preservation of environment and climate. In a press conference following the conclusion of the Bahrain-US Joint Forum on Environmental Cooperation, Bin Dainah said the two sides agreed on a comprehensive plan to lay out and implement laws and regulations related to the environment 2017-2021. Bin Dainah extended thanks to the US Department of State, US Embassy in Bahrain, US Trade Representative, US Forest Service and US Department of the Interior for attending the event. He also appreciated the local partners’ efforts to implement the work plan, including First Deputy Prime Minister’s Office, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Industry and Commerce and Economic Development Board. The US Ambassador to Bahrain, Justin Hicks Siberell, welcomed Bahrain’s effort to achieve environmental cooperation, pointing out the SCE key role in preserving the environment. He highlighted his country’s keenness to work together with Bahrain on the preservation of the environment and protecting human health through bolstering sustainable development. The forum was held in line with the memorandum of understanding signed by the two sides in September 2004 on environmental cooperation, in implementation of the Bahrain-US Free Trade Agreement.
