Bangkok is on precaution against fire during Chinese New Year
BANGKOK, Jan 27 (TNA) -- Bangkok sets up 35 fire watch units across the capital as a precaution against the risk of fire during the Chinese New Year celebration.
Governor of Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) Aswin Kwanmuang joined a campaign activity in Bangkok’s China Town on Thursday, urging people to take exercise precaution when worshipping ancestors and deities.
The 35 fire watch units will be monitoring and carry out prompt response to any fires until Monday.
The firemen are fully equipped with fire machines and distinguishers.
BMA has provided hotline service for people to alert the units by simply dialing 199 or 1555, he said.
Meanwhile, Don’t Drive Drunk Foundation (DDD) activists held a traffic safety campaign at a shrine of Chinese deities in China Town.
Social Development and Human Security Minister Adul Saengsingkaew joined the activists handing out DDD New Year presents.
According to DDD, drunk driving causes an average of 200 deaths in the past 20 years. (TNA)
