Bangladesh Govt Legalises 267,803 Workers Sent To M’sia

NEW DELHI, July 3 (Bernama) – The Bangladesh government has legalised 267,803 Bangladeshi workers in Malaysia, its Employment Minister Engr Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain said. The United News of Bangladesh reported that the government had taken various steps to increase the flow of sending workers abroad. "The process of manpower export and immigration has been made safe while the diplomatic process has been strengthened," he said in the Parliament on Monday. Bangladesh nationals are the second largest registered foreign workforce in Malaysia, numbering 400,000 and annually, Bangladeshis in Malaysia remit about RM3.11 billion (US$985.89 million). Bangladesh, he said has started sending workers to among others, Australia, New Zealand, Russia, Canada, Sweden, Sudan, Angola, Greece, Estonia, Poland, which has emerged as new labour markets. -- BERNAMA
