BMA: Festive activities during Songkran not prohibited
BANGKOK, April 6 (TNA) -- The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) said that festive activities would not be prohibited during the upcoming Songkran Festival, but asked that events be organised appropriately.
BMA spokesperson Treedao Apaiwong said that the BMA is set to implement measures for safety, free of alcohol for Songkran Festival this year, while asking for public cooperation to refrain holding some activities such as playing loud music or dancing on the back of pickup trucks, along with asking for the public to dress appropriately and to refrain from dancing provocatively, as the country is still in the mourning period for His late Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej.
However, the BMA would like to reiterate that it has not prohibited the public from holding festive activities to celebrate the Thai New Year, but has asked that the celebrations be held appropriately.
The BMA is also encouraging the public to celebration the water festival in a Thai traditional way, which focuses on enjoying the festival while giving everyone a proper respect. (TNA)
