BMTA to provide convenience on Loy Kratong

BANGKOK, Nov 12 (TNA) -- Thailand's Bangkok Mass Transit Authority (BMTA) has organised transportation plan covering 155 routes ahead of the upcoming Loy Kratong Festival, to provide better conveniences to the public during the festivity. The BMTA said it has already worked out plans to provide more conveniences and safety to the public during this year's Loy Kratong festival along all the regular routes, though the number of vehicles and trips would be increased, whereas more shifts of bus drivers and employees would also be added on 114 routes between November 11-15. Loy Kratong Festival is on Monday. It noted that shuttle buses between four bus terminals in Bangkok would also be provided, running on 37 routes, while the Airport Bus at Don Mueang Airport would be organised to run on two routes, between the airport and Jatujak BTS station, and the airport to the Victory Monument. The BMTA has also beefed up security and safety on the vehicles, here each bus has been thoroughly inspected for any faults and malfunctions before they were put on the road, while the bus drivers and employees were constantly examined for alcohol level and their registrations were also double checked.
