Boats to drain floodwater into sea arrive in South

NAKHON SI THAMMARAT, Jan 8 (TNA) - A total of 30 boats to be used for draining floodwater into the sea arrived in the flood-ravaged southern province of Nakhon Si Thammarat early on Sunday. The boats, equipped with water jet propulsion system left Bangkok yesterday and officials of the Royal Thai Navy will confer with irrigation provincial officials on accelerating expulsion of floodwater as soon as possible. The boats will be stationed in the flood-ravaged South until flooding situation eases. Simultaneously, Bangkok naval base commander, Rear Admiral Vasinsan Chantavarin is scheduled to chair the opening of a donation center for flood victims this evening at the Royal Thai Navy headquarters.
