Book on Imam Hussein (AS) and Ashura unveiled in New Delhi

TEHRAN,Dec. 3 (MNA) -- A book on Imam Hussein (AS) and the philosophy of Ashura written by Indian Syed Mohammad Ibadat Naqvi was unveiled in New Delhi last week. Ashura is the tenth day of Muharram upon which Imam Hussein (AS) and his companions were martyred. Entitled “Maqam-e Shabbiri”, the book was introduced during a ceremony held in honor of the deceased scholar Ibadat Naqvi arranged by the Iranian Cultural Office in New Delhi. “The session was organized to pay tribute to Indian great scholars especially those from Amroha (a town in the northwestern portion of Uttar Pradesh state in northern India)” Iran’s cultural attaché Karim Najafi-Barzegar said at the ceremony. “Syed Ibadat was a researcher on literature and religion. He was also skilled in poetry and calligraphy,” he added. “Maqam-e Shabbiri” is a valuable book written on Imam Hussein (AS) and I hope preachers can make the best use of the book in these days of Muharram, he said. Published by Iranian Cultural Office in New Delhi, the book contains invaluable historical topics, in which the event of Ashura and the history of Islam have been narrated, said an Indian scholar attending the ceremony. The ceremony was brought to an end with the presentation of a plaque of honor to Naqvi’s son Mohammad Siyadat.
