Boy Suffering From Spinal Cord Tumour Gets To Meet PM

PUTRAJAYA, June 7 (Bernama) - The dream of Adam Akbar Ali (centre), 10, who is suffering from intramedullary cervical spinal cord tumor, to meet the country's number one leader, Najib Razak (right), has finally come true. The Prime Minister spent about 10 minutes meeting with Adam, who was accompanied by his father, Akbar Ali Mohamed Noordin, 43, and mother, Siti Rogayah Syed Ismail (left), 32, at the Prime Minister's Office, Perdana Putra Building, here, Thursday. During the short meeting, Najib chatted with Adam and gave him words of encouragement before going for an operation at the John Hopkins Hospital, in the United States on June 20. In his greeting card to Adam, the Prime Minister wrote, "To Sdr Adam Akbar, may Allah give His blessings to Adik Adam in undergoing the operation. I pray that 'Adik Adam' will recover quickly". Meanwhile, Adam also presented Najib with a greeting card which he wrote himself: "Salam (Greetings) Najib. I Love U. Thank you". During the meeting, Najib wanted the Prime Minister's Office to help in speeding up the issuance of Adam's visa to the United States. In addition, he wanted the Prime Minister's Office to get in touch with the John Hopkins Hospital to provide the best treatment to Adam. "I am very happy to be able to meet the Prime Minister today. My dream has come true. "The Prime Minister had given me words of encouragement. He also prayed for my speedy recovery. "Thank you, Prime Minister for helping me," Adam said to reporters after the meeting with Najib, here. The meeting was arranged by Sinar Harian, a local Malay daily. Meanwhile, Akbar Ali also thanked Najib for spending time to meet with his son despite the Prime Minister's busy schedule. Yesterday the Terengganu state government gave a contribution of US$31,655.6 (RM100,000) and the 1MCA Medical Foundation donated US$6,331.1 (RM20,000) to meet the cost for the life saving operation in the United States.
