BANGKOK, November 29 (TNA) - The Cabinet has acknowledged the succession to the throne of Thailand's new monarch, after the passing of late His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej on October 13. Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan told journalists of the update on Tuesday, saying that the Secretary-General to Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha, General Wilas Arunsri, is tasked with pursuing the issue with the National Legislative Assembly (NLA). After the parliamentary process is completed, authorities concerned are expected to have an audience with His Royal Highness Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn within the next couple of days. According to the legitimate procedure, the Thai Cabinet will ask the NLA president to invite His Royal Highness Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn to ascend the throne. The Crown Prince will then have to accept the invitation in order for him to be proclaimed the new Thai King. After the passing of late His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn had asked to delay the succession to grieve with the Thai people during the hard time.
