Cabinet Affairs minister meets OECD official

Paris, Oct. 28 (BNA): Cabinet Affairs Minister, Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al-Mutawa, met here today the Deputy Secretary-General of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), Douglas Frantz, and reviewed with him ways and mechanisms to enhance cooperation between the Kingdom of Bahrain and OECD in the fields of good governance, capacity-building, exchange of expertise and training.
The meeting highlighted the efforts exerted by the government, led by His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, to consolidate governance in order to develop government action and ensure quality efficient administrative performance and better services for the citizens.
The minister underlined the kingdom’s keenness on availing of international expertise of international organisations, such as OECD, to promote the good governance culture.
He affirmed that Bahrain has made significant strides in consolidating the culture and practices of good governance through inaugurating the Corporate Governance Code in the public sector for the aim of improving institutional performance and enhancing the kingdom’s status in attracting investments and pushing development efforts in all fields.
OECD deputy secretary-general affirmed OECD’s keenness on activating and broadening all aspects of cooperation with Bahrain to achieve the common interests of promoting the governance culture through exchange of expertise and using successful models in developing legislation and systems.
