Campaigning event against global warming in Bangkok set Sept 19

BANGKOK, September 8 (TNA) - Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organisation (TGO) will organise a campaign against the emission of greenhouse gases, the main cause of the global warming or climate change problem, in Bangkok later this month. TGO Director Prasert Jamornmarn announced on Thursday that the campaigning event will be held at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre in the capital on September 19. The TGO chief acknowledged this year's event is the fourth consecutive one, themed the "low carbon community", in line with the government's strategic plan on climate change for turning Thailand into a green development nation. The TGO chief told reporters that activities at the event include, among others, the presentation of certificates to 300 individuals, communities, organisations and green products voluntarily participating in global warming alleviation. TGO has, meanwhile, certified the participants with the its carbon footprint or global warming alleviation label to honour them as a role model for excellent management and reduced greenhouse gas emissions. For this year, TGO has also worked together with the Forestry Department, under the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, to launch a project on community forests, aimed to support the management of about 8,000 existing community forests nationwide to become modeled forests against climate change or global warming.
