Chainat holds Straw Bird Festival

CHAINAT, Feb 4 (TNA) -- The central province of Chainat hold the world's only Straw Bird Festival, aiming to conserve and promote local cultures and traditions, as well as continue folk wisdom, along with promote tourism and local products. Chainat Governor Nimit Wanchaithanawong presided over the opening ceremony of the Straw Bird Festival 2017 last night at the Chainat City Hall. The event kicked off with a parade of straw birds and tradition parade from the province's eight districts along the main road of the city heart for tourists to enjoy the beauty of the parade. The event was then moved to the local stadium, where visitors were able to enjoy 40 3-metre tall hi-tech straw birds, elaborately decorated and staged inside a mock up forest full of colourful flowers. The festival will run through February 12 in which the province is inviting visitors and Thais to come and witness a 32-year old legacy of the local people of Chainat. (TNA)
