Chartered plane from India request for emergency landing

BANGKOK, March 7 (TNA) -- The Royal Thai Air Force (RTAF) spokesman said that a chartered plane from India ran into an engine malfunction and had asked for an emergency landing on March 5, within the Kamphaeng Saen Flying Training School. The plane has crash landed, hitting the ground hard, causing a fire to erupt and the second pilot to be seriously injured. RTAF spokesperson Air Vice Marshal Pongsak Semachai told the Thai News Agency (TNA) that an Indian civilian aircraft - PC 12 which could hold 8-10 passengers make an emergency landing at the Kamphaeng Saen Flying Training School in Nakhon Pathom province on March 5 at 7.20 am The air base had been contacted by the chartered flight, which was traveling from Kolkata in India to Don Meuang Airport to pick up a patient, was in need of an immediate landing. He said the chartered plane had an engine malfunction and was forced to land outside of the runway of the air base, causing the plane to impact the ground and a fire to breakout. All five passengers on board, including pilot and co-pilot, along with three physicians were all hurt particularly the co-pilot and a doctor were injured seriously, with multiple burns on their bodies. The three other passengers were only slightly injured. Officials at the air base had immediately put out the fire and sent the injured passengers to the nearby hospital for treatments. The spokesman said all of the injured victims have now been sent to a hospital in Bangkok for more treatments, noting that the investigation into the cause of the accident would be the responsibility of the Ministry of Transport and the company which owns the plane.
