Cherished Times with the Late Amir HH Shaikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa

Manama, Feb. 24 (BNA): The Board of Trustees of the Isa Award for Services to Humanity has today announced that their campaign, Cherished Times with the Late Amir His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa is attracting local, regional and international attention. The campaign which was launched in Manama on February 2 at the Isa Cultural Centre, has yielded a very positive response with images and footage already being received and more expected as the campaign gains momentum. The three-month long campaign aims to collate photographs, testimonies or videos highlighting the humanitarian achievements of HH the late Amir of Bahrain. The campaign is being conducted by email and telephone with organisations, individuals, embassies and associations around the world and is also active on social media platforms such as Instagram, facebook and twitter: #wherewasShIsa Submissions received will be used to create a new documentary to be shown at the 3rd Isa Awards for Services to Humanity ceremony, taking place in mid-2017 under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain, in the presence of senior Arab and international figures from around the world. The Isa Award for Services to Humanity is a world-wide initiative from Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, which was established by a Royal Decree in 2009. The biennial award honours individuals and organisations around the globe that have provided outstanding services to humanity, regardless of their race, religion, culture, beliefs, or locations. An international jury evaluates the contributions of these individuals and organisations to humanity and the winner receives a US$1 million cash award and a gold medal. The first edition of the Isa Award for Services to Humanity took place in 2013. The award includes 11 categories such as disaster prevention and relief, education, and human tolerance. The award is the first of its kind in the Middle East in the field of honouring service to humanity, and has successfully completed two cycles and established its own worldwide presence. The award is not affiliated politically and invites any entity with humanitarian contributions to apply. Previous awardees are Dr. Jemillah Mahmood, founder of Mercy Malaysia and social activist Dr. Achyuta Samanta, from India.
