Chief of Strategic Affairs Sector participates in meeting of NATO Regional Center, Istanbul Cooperation Initiative

Manama, Mar. 24 (BNA): The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, represented by the Chief of the Strategic Affairs Sector, Nancy Abdullah Jamal, participated in the meeting of the Regional Center of NATO and the Istanbul Cooperation Initiative, held under the theme "Women, Peace and Security". The meeting was headed by Kuwait's National Security Agency Assistant Undersecretary, Shaikh Fawaz Mishaal Al-Jarrah Al-Sabah, with the participation of the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of NATO for Women, Peace and Security, Irene Fellin.
Nancy Jamal gave a speech highlighting development of the role of Bahraini women in the field of regional and international peace and security and the human rights renaissance witnessed by the Kingdom of Bahrain under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, who has always supported women since the establishment of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW).
She praised the tireless efforts of SCW, led by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Consort of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women, which contributed to making SCW an international model. She stressed that these achievements would not have been realized without the forward-looking vision of His Majesty the King, which constantly focuses on promoting human rights and securing a favourable environment.
Nancy Jamal also shed light on the history of Bahraini women and their practical career in the security field, noting that the presence of Bahraini women in the security, military, judicial and political agencies began in the seventies of the last century. She also gave vivid examples of the national, regional and international positions that Bahraini women have occupied and are still holding.
She concluded her speech by stressing that without the insightful vision of the wise leadership, trust, and continuous support, Bahraini women would not have reached these honorable levels.
