Civil Service and Government Development Bureau Launches "Knowledge Transfer" Initiative

Doha, October 10 (QNA) - The Civil Service and Government Development Bureau launched Monday the "Knowledge Transfer" initiative with 13 international consulting companies that possess a proven track record of strategic projects in the State of Qatar, announcing the start of the first phase of the Knowledge Transfer initiative, which aims to encourage development across the government sector manpower in Qatar from the beginning of next year.
Agreements were signed with MacKenzie Inc., Bain & Company, Boston Consulting Group (BCG), Deloitte, Accenture, Ernst & Young, Kearney, KPMG, Oliver Wyman, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Protiviti, Qatar Moore and Roland Berger.
The initiative seeks to raise the level of insight and expertise based on government sector needs across various fields, and through a six-month development program enabling the local Qatar government work force to observe work practices within the consulting companies and their respective strategic departments.
The Knowledge Transfer initiative provides an opportunity for the Qatari government-worker participants attending the program to learn about the various specialized work environments from highly qualified international experts and specialists in strategic project management. The benefits of the development program will ensure that participants acquire valuable skills and experience within their specialties and are able to apply their new skills at their workplaces.
HE President of the Civil Service and Government Development Bureau Abdulaziz bin Nasser bin Mubarak Al Khalifa said that the Knowledge Transfer initiative represents an excellent opportunity to learn and benefit from vivid examples and global experiences at the level of local strategic projects in multiple sectors. The initiative enables public sector employees to hone their skills by acquiring new job practices and experiences across the private sector, according to the foundations, standards and requirements that have been identified and studied in advance to achieve the desired goals.
He added that the initiative seeks to prepare participants to work on strategic projects with advisory work teams, while supporting them and providing guidance to develop their job skills and gain new practical experiences, noting the importance of supporting and encouraging innovation and excellence based on knowledge, and benefiting from the available resources and constant quest to improve performance in the government institutional sector.
His Excellency pointed out that the Civil Service and Government Development Bureau is working to achieve the State's visions of raising the levels of development and organizational and administrative modernization in government agencies through upgrading manpower and raising their efficiency.
It is worth noting that the launch of the Knowledge Transfer initiative came after an initial trial period exercise, which was carried out in cooperation with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and PricewaterhouseCoopers. The exercise looked at different technical systems and programs that would best allow government workers the chance to develop from the learning process of the Knowledge Transfer program.
The Civil Service and Government Development Bureau, through the Institute of Public Administration, will monitor this initiative in order to allow for Qatari government workers and high potential candidates to further add to their existing qualifications, in turn raising the efficiency of the public sector.
