Climate Special Envoy participates in 24th GCC Environment Ministers meeting

Manama, April. 4 (BNA): His Majesty’s Personal Representative, Supreme Council for the Environment (SCE) President His Highness Shaikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa delegated Special Envoy for Climate Affairs and Chief Executive of the Supreme Council for Environment (SCE) Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Bin Daina to head Bahrain’s delegation in the 24th meeting of Their Highnesses and Excellencies the ministers responsible for environmental affairs in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. The meeting approved a number of topics and recommendations raised in light of the global challenges facing the environment and sustainable development related to the implementation of the Supreme Council decisions on the message of the General Secretariat 2020 GCC environmental movements, environmental restrictions, the strategic plan of Environment Ministers Committee, Gulf Environmental Portal, Gulf cooperation with the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), the message of the Secretariat on the United Nations (UN) Climate Change Framework Convention, and the International cooperation with Jordan, Morocco, Pakistan, and the European Union (EU). The meeting discussed the initiatives of the G20, the proposal of the Kingdom on reducing plastic pollution, and Saudi Arabia’s petition to host the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations (UN) Convention to Combat Desertification.
