Counter-terrorism is major military, security responsibility

Manama, Dec.2 (BNA): His Highness Commander of the Royal Guard Special Force and the joint national counter-terrorism drill ” The Kingdom’s Guards 1”, His Highness Major Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa said that counter-terrorism is a key responsibility of military and security work.
He said that the security and safety of Bahrain are worth all sacrifices, hailing the support of His Majesty the King for the drill.
HH Shaikh Khalid said the drill, to be held at Seef Mall on December 5 – 6, is unique in terms of high joint coordination between Bahrain Defence Force, the Interior Ministry and the National Guard. The Public Prosecution is also taking part as a legal legislator. He said that drill would be monitored by specialised independent bodies to evaluate the level of preparedness, readiness and responsiveness.
HH Major Shaikh Khalid said that field work is the best method to achieve cohesion and coordination.
The preparatory exercises held last month included various scenarios that showed differences in the concepts and implementation of procedures. “We agreed to accomplish the required duties of the drill through unified work procedures.”
“We worked as one team and our mission is that we be ready to confront any act that could affect our national security,” he said. “What we are about to do will not end on the training field or a joint operation, but through joint military and security work. Protection of security and the supreme interests of the nation cannot be compromised.”
HH the drill commander stressed that “by the grace of God the results of the drill will be taken into consideration for future exercises that will be larger in size, planning and implementation.”
