Court upholds death,prison sentences

Manama, June 4 (BNA): Chief of the Terror Crime Prosecution Advocate General Chancellor Ahmed Al Hammadi said the High Cassation Court upheld the death sentence against the first defendant in a terror case.
The court also upheld life terms against the second, third, fifth, eighth, ninth, eleventh and twelfth defendants.
The court also upheld 10 years term against the fourth, sixth, seventh and tenth defendants. The court ordered the revocation of the nationality of all defendants and the confiscation of materials and tools.
Public Prosecutions received on July 4, 2017 a report from the police that a group of terrorists had planted an explosive device on Al-Eker Road near the Applied Science University (ASU) and when a police armoured vehicle arrived, they detonated it, resulting in the death of a policeman.
The case was deliberated in the presence of the lawyers of the defendants who were provided with all the legal guarantees. The aforementioned ruling was approved by the First Criminal Court of First Instance on March 7.
