COVID-19 in Kyrgyzstan. President expresses gratitude to medics

Bishkek, March 26, 2020. /Kabar/. President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sooronbay Jeenbekov made on Wednesday a statement in connection with the introduction of a state of emergency in some cities and regions of the country due to COVID-19 coronavirus infection. The Kyrgyz leader reminded that he has signed a decree on imposing the state of emergency from March 25 to April 15 in the cities of Bishkek, Osh and Dzhalal-Abad, in Suzak, Nookat and Kara-Suu regions to prevent the spread of coronavirus. He noted the emergency situation in the country and the state of emergency in these territories will create some inconveniences and limitations in everyday life. "Our citizens are required to strictly observe discipline. All efforts of state bodies and local authorities are aimed at preventing further spread of infection. Our doctors, border guards and police are working 24 hours a day," the President stressed. Jeenbekov noted unless those efforts are supported by the public, by every citizen, it will be impossible to achieve success. "Once again, I would like to express my gratitude to the employees of various spheres and, first of all, to the medics, who are at work 24 hours a day. In the first days there were shortcomings in ensuring the activity of our physicians. I have been informed about it. The Republican Headquarters (Headquarters for Preventing Import and Further Spread of Coronavirus in the Kyrgyz Republic) is correcting the situation. Dear physicians, all people highly appreciate your work, which gives hope and confidence in the future. The state takes care of you. I ask you to continue working in a reinforced regime," the President concluded. As of March 25, 2020 44 cases of COVID-19 were registered in the republic, including 20 in Osh Oblast, 19 in Dzhalal-Abad Oblast, 3 in Bishkek, 1 in Chui Oblast and 1 in Batken Oblast.
