SINGAPORE, Sept 30 (Bernama) -- Singapore has preliminarily confirmed an additional 23 new cases of COVID-19 infection in the past 24 hours, bringing the case tally to 57,765.
"Based on our investigations so far, there are three cases in the community, all of whom are work pass holders," said the republic’s Ministry of Health (MOH) in a brief data released here Wednesday.
The ministry said there were also four imported cases who had all been placed on Stay-Home Notice upon arrival in Singapore.
The MOH said it was still working through the details of the cases and further updates would be issued Wednesday night.
In the full data released late last night, the ministry said the only community cases reported yesterday involved another Malaysian.
The 21-year old work pass holder had been identified as a household contact of two community cases reported Monday who are also Malaysians.
As of Sept 29, there are 888 cases involving long-term and work pass holders here and categorised under community cases.
So far, the MOH has classified 1,061 of the reported cases as imported, 2,248 as community cases and 54,433 involving dorm residents.
The ministry said 57,466 cases had fully recovered here and a total of 32 confirmed cases remain hospitalised but none in the intensive care unit.
Meanwhile, 217 patients who have mild symptoms or clinically well but still tested positive for COVID-19 have been isolated and being cared for at community facilities.
To date, 27 people have died from complications due to COVID-19 in the republic with the first two deaths reported on March 21.
While no new clusters were identified Tuesday, a cluster linked to SLR Revolution at Excelsior Shopping Centre was closed as no more cases for the past two incubation periods of 28 days.
