CRPEP issues Q 3 report
Manama, Nov. 23 (BNA): The Council for Regulating the Practice of Engineering Professions (CRPEP) has issued its report for the 3rd quarter of this year. The report covered a number of achievements that the council accomplished in the past three months.
The accomplishments of the 3rd quarter of the year included completion of investigations with three engineering offices regarding a number of violations, for which disciplinary penalties were issued against two of the three engineering offices subjected to investigation; according to the law of the practice of engineering professions. Also, two new engineering offices have been granted practice license during the past three months, final licenses were given to 250 engineers from the private sector and 113 engineers from the public sector, and 25 engineers’ ranks were upgraded.
The Council continued to coordinate and collaborate with its main stakeholders and clients by meeting with engineering offices, insurance companies, the Survey and Land Registration Bureau. The Commerce, Industry & Tourism Ministry, The Economic Development Board and other parties related to the practice of engineering professions.
The Council’s Board of Directors has made a number of decisions in relation to the method of evaluating engineering offices according to the law of the practice of engineering professions, and has also referred a complaint to the Public Prosecution, regarding a company’s unlicensed practice of the engineering profession.
The data base for the council has also been updated to include gender. The Council has published statistics on Bahraini female engineers, where it was revealed that the number of licensed female engineers amounted to 514 Bahraini engineers working in both the public and private sectors.
The Council has also inspected construction sites located in Seef District, Busaiteen and Bu quwa, to ensure that engineering offices have listed the details of projects implemented, and that projects costing over BD300,000 have electromechanical consultants; in accordance to rules and regulations.
