Culture Ministry upbeat about Thai digital content industry

BANGKOK, Aug 15 (TNA) -- The Culture Ministry is confident of the growth of Thai digital content as it concluded its Thailand Creative Showcase 2018 (TCS 2018) fair. The ministry stated that the Thailand Creative Showcase 2018 was organized with the concept of “Creative FunPark” drew about 55,000 visitors, mostly the young who enjoyed activities with their families. The fair featured Thai cartoons and the “5th Character Licensing Workshop”. Three teams of character developers were selected in the workshop for participation in international fairs in other countries like Japan and Hong Kong and for commercial development in the future. The Thailand Creative Showcase 2018 helped increase the value of Thai digital content, the ministry stated. It quoted the Digital Economy Promotion Agency as valuing the Thai digital content industry at 21.98 billion baht in 2016, 24 billion baht in 2017, and 26 billion baht this year. The value in 2016 included 3.96 billion baht in the animation industry and 16.33 billion baht in the character design industry. China, Japan, South Korea, European countries and the United States were main parties actively ordering character designs in Thailand, the Culture Ministry stated. (TNA)
