Manama, June 26 (BNA): Customs President Shaikh Ahmed bin Hamad Al Khalifa asserted on Sunday that the narcotic confiscations reached 355 in the first quarter of 2016 through land, air and sea borders.
This could highlight the importance of the Customs Affairs in fighting drug smuggling while highlighting the essential role of community partnership that has been reinforced by His Excellency Interior Minister to control-drug-related issues.
He said as part of Bahrain’s celebration of the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking that customs officers work hard to prevent the entry of banned items, hailing cooperation between Bahrain and Saudi Arabia in arresting traffickers and violators through King Fahad Causeway.
About awareness, he said that associating the Anti-narcotics Directorate in the annual exhibition of the Customs Affairs to mark the World Customs Day aimed to enhance awareness of parents and concerned bodies. He highlighted the dedication of the Customs Affairs to enhance the competency of its workforce and provide the latest high-tech devices. (MOI)
