Cycling May Be New Product To Draw Tourists

KULIM (Malaysia), April 27 (Bernama) -- The Tourism Ministry intends to make cycling a new tourism product in an effort to draw more tourists to the country, Minister Dr Ng Yen Yen said Friday. She said cycling tour guides would be made available to assist tourists. Young people should make cycling a hobby as it can help them establish friendship, she told reporters after launching the 2012 Kulim Cycling Family Programme at Padang Tasik Putra, here. Ng proposed that youths work together to increase the number of cycling enthusiasts in the country. "Cycling can be more beneficial than illegal motorcycle racing. The ministry hopes that local banks can offer loans to enable youths to open up bicycle rental outlets to serve foreign tourists," she said. About 300 cycling enthusiasts comprising children and adults joined the family ride over a distance of 20 kilometres from Kulim to Junjong town and back. -- BERNAMA
