Defence Service Asia 2012 Expected To Generate US$27.42 Million Revenue

KUALA LUMPUR, April 10 (Bernama) -- The Defence Services Asia 2012 (DSA 2012), which will be held from April 16 to 19, is expected to generate over US$27.42 million (RM84 million) in revenue. It is a conservative estimate based on estimated 28,000 visitors made up of exhibitors and delegations with each trade visitor expected to spend about RM3,000, said a spokesman from the DSA 2012 secretariat, the Malaysian Ministry of Defence. He said the exhibition was expected to promote the country as a meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions (Mice) centre. "It will open up business opportunities for local defence industry companies to forge smart and strategic partnerships with original equipment manufacturers as well as promote local products to the international market," he said. Malaysian Defence Minister Dr Zahid Hamidi had said that the DSA 2012 could generate over US$35.64 million (RM200 million) in foreign exchange. To date, DSA 2012 has already plugged in the participation of 25 country pavilions including from Australia, Austria, Bosnia, Brazil, Canada, China, Republic of Czech, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Norway, Pakistan, Poland, Rusia, Slovakia, South Korea, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, United Kingdom, Ukraine and the United States. Malaysia’s pavilion will see the participation of Amdac, Boustead, DRB-Hicom, DEFTECH, Nadi Defence, Sapura, SME Ordnance, Westar LDV and Zetro. -- BERNAMA
