Deputy Foreign Minister Leads M'sian Delegation To NAM Coordinating Bureau Meeting

KUALA LUMPUR, May 12 (Bernama) -- Deputy Foreign Minister of Malaysia A. Kohilan Pillay led the Malaysian delegation to the Non-Aligned Movement's (NAM) Coordinating Bureau Ministerial Meeting at Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt which ended Friday. The meeting, which opened on May 7, aimed to evaluate the implementation level of the decisions of the 15th NAM Summit Meeting held in that country in 2009 besides the preparation for the 16th NAM Summit Meeting in Tehran, Iran at the end of August. According to a Wisma Putra statement on Friday, Kohilan delivered a speech at the General Debate session and raised several matters including initiatives by the Global Movement of the Moderates, Palestinian issues and the United Nations (UN) transformation process. He also took part in the interactive session at the NAM Palestinian Committee Meeting participated by 13 NAM member countries besides having bilateral meetings with several of his counterparts in the efforts to strengthen bilateral cooperation and discussing matters of mutual interest. Malaysia's participation at the meeting reflected its commitment towards NAM as well as the role of the country which had held the NAM chair for the 2003 to 2006 term and as a member of the NAM Troika for the 2002-2009 session. -- BERNAMA
