DERASAT chairman outlines Bahrain’s development strides

Helsinki, Oct.2 (BNA): Bahrain Centre for Strategic, International and Energy Studies (DERASAT) Board of Trustees’ Chairman Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al-Khalifa met at the University of Aalto in Helsinki, Finland, UN Technology Innovation Lab manager Razi Latif and other experts and discussed latest technological strides.
He said that Bahrain is one of the most developed countries in the Middle East stressing the Kingdom’s technological strides and competitiveness. He underlined the 2023 Bahrain Economic Vision, which aims to cultivate the values of innovation and promote entrepreneurship as a national culture, stressing the Kingdom’s keen interest in developing the technological sector.
He highlighted Bahrain’s efficient legislations and facilities which contributed to enhancing the Kingdom’s standing on the international indicators regarding the readiness of the sector of information technology and telecommunication.
He shed light on the King Hamad Schools of the Future project which aims at developing the educational system and optimizing the use of IT and telecommunication technology in education and promoting the electronic learning at school.
Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al-Khalifa highlighted the initiative "Fikra", which was launched to enhance the Government’s performance and promote innovation and creativity, quoting His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier who said "Today we launch the energy of innovation" in the Arab World.
He highlighted the establishment of the Artificial Intelligence Academy and the initiative of Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS) Vice Chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) President Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, who gave directives to incorporate artificial intelligence in education.
Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al-Khalifa commended fruitful cooperation between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United Nations which contributes to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs2030). DERASAT board of trustees’ chairman paid a visit to Demos Helsinki Research Centre and was updated by its chief executive Yuha Juha Leppänen about the work of the think tank. He commended relations between Bahrain Centre for Strategic, International and Energy Studies (DERASAT) and Demos Helsinki, stressing keenness on developing cooperation between the two think in all research fields.
