Manama, Apr. 26 (BNA): The Bahrain Centre for Strategic, International and Energy Studies (DERASAT) will hold the second edition of its annual forum under the theme “Research Centres’ Role and Impacts on the Policies of the Middle East.” Held on April 28 at the Sofitel Bahrain Zallaq Thalassa Sea & Spa, the annual “Derasat Forum” will attract a wide range of intellectuals, academics and media persons, as well as experts, specialists, and representatives of international organisations, including the United Nations and the International Peace Institute (IPI). DERASAT Board of Trustees Chairman Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa welcomed the participants in the forum which coincides with the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the centre as an independent research edifice and think-tank dealing with strategic issues. He stressed the centre’s achievements over one decade, affirming resolve to continue the march of distinction and excellence. Dr. Shaikh Abdullah said that the new edition of the forum aims to provide an advanced intellectual platform to discuss regional issues with clear and realistic approaches in order to provide creative solutions according to the Arab vision and interest. The event, he added, also aims to boost cooperation between research centres to shape awareness and build capabilities to face current challenges to the Gulf and Arab security.
