Dhaka filmfest to hold Iranian filmmaker Mehrjuii retrospective

TEHRAN,Dec.18(MNA) -- The Dhaka International Film Festival planned to hold a retrospective of new wave Iranian filmmaker Dariush Mehrjuii during its 12th edition, which will take place from January 12 to 20, 2012 in Bangladesh. Mehrjuii’s “The Cycle”, “The Tenants”, “Sara”, “The Lady”, “Mom’s Guest” and “The Santur Player” will be screened during the program, organizers announced on the festival website. A panel of critics and film experts is scheduled to discuss the films. The festival is also organizing another retrospective for the 62-year-old French director, Pierre Coulibeuf. A number of Iranian films will be competing in various sections of the festival. “Invitation” by director Ebrahim Hatamikia, “Principles” by Tahmineh Milani, “Alzheimer” by Ahmadreza Motamedi and “Mr. Yusef” by Ali Rafiei will be screened in the Australasian Film Competition section. The Cinema of the World Section will screen “On Foot” by Fereidun Hassanpur and “Orion” by Ali Zamani-Esmati. “Meadow” by Mohammad-Ali Talebi and “The Legend of 2010” by Ehsan Abdipur are scheduled to be shown in the Children’s Films Section. The Iranian lineup for the Women Filmmakers Section includes “Serial Dreams” by Puran Derakhshandeh, “And the Blue Sky by Ghazaleh Soltani and “The Bare Foot Leader” by Zohreh Zamani. “The morning Ceremony” by Hadi Afarideh, “The Absence of Mr. and Mrs. B” by Reza Daryanush and Fima Emami will be competing in the Shorts and Independent Section. In addition, “Girls” by Mohammadreza Abbasian will be screened in the Spiritual Films Section. Iranian female filmmaker and producer Manijeh Hekmat has been selected for the festival jury.
