DOE: Thai labours restrained from working in SKorea the most
BANGKOK, April 1 (TNA) -- The Department of Employment (DOE) has revealed the statistics in February 2017 that more than 7,400 Thai workers had traveled through Suvarnabhumi Airport to seek jobs abroad, though more than 50 people were halted from traveling to South Korea for work.
DOE Director-General Varanon Peetiwan said that a total of 7,441 Thai workers have passed through labour control immigration point at the airport in February,
where most or 5,505 persons had secured a job in Asia, the highest being in Taiwan at 2,945, followed by South Korea at 1,126, and Japan 629 workers.
Another 1,026 persons had landed a job in the Middle East, and the rest or 468 people had traveled to Europe for work.
Mr Varanon said 55 Thai workers had been suspended from traveling to South Korea, the highest figure in the past month, from the total number of 67 Thai
workers forbidden from working abroad.
The director said all of the workers halted from passing through the immigration were believed to have been tricked by illegal middlemen via the social media,
claiming they can provide high-paying jobs, good welfare and jobs, but once the workers arrived at the targeted destinations they were left stranded with no jobs
and official permit.
Mr Varanon advised all interested in working abroad to carefully study the legal procedures of each country before doing so, as well as to double any legality and
information about the job with the DOE before deciding to jump on board. (TNA)
