Ecological cleaning campaign in Astana

Astana, September 28 2009, Khabar – Ecological cleaning campaign was held in Astana and tens thousands of city residents took part into it. Almost all capital residents, employees of organizations and enterprises took part in cleaning campaign on overhauling of the city. The authorities also participated in the campaign and as a results of this green belt around capital was replenished with about 700 trees. Speaker of lower chamber of Parliament says he planted almost a little park in the city.

Ural Mukhamedzhanov, chairman of Majilis of the Parliament:
- While driving by some streets I am glad to show my grandson that these trees were planted by me.

Saplings of pine-trees were planted along the road to airport and the deputies are sure the trees will grow as they were planted with great love.

Bagila Baimagambetova, Majilis deputy:
- When we plant any tree we put part of our heart into work because we know not only we will make benefit of it.

Mikhail Bortnik, Senate deputy:
- I think not only in legislation, but in this work we also demonstrated good results.

4 000 trees were planted during cleaning campaign and 2,5 000 tons of litter were taken out of city. The tree trunks were whitened with a lime, fences and turnstiles were painted, yards were cleaned and all dumps were liquidated.

Imangali Tasmagambetov, mayor of Astana:
- It is not necessary to look for some Communist ideology in “subbotnik” notion. Ideology is to instill a love for the yard and home. Our Astana should be the cleanest city.

More than 80 000 capital residents supported this opinion.
