Education Minister opens Vocational Skills Contest

Manama, Mar. 22 (BNA): Education Minister Dr. Majid bin Ali Al Nuaimi has affirmed that Bahrain is proceeding with its efforts to develop technical and vocational education at the secondary and university levels, and introducing specialisations commensurate with labour market requirements. The ministry encourages students to join such specisalisations as well as professional activities and competitions that boost student skills and creativity to ensure a spectacular future for them to contribute into the nation’s progress, said the minister. The minister’s remarks came as he opened today the Bahrain Training Institute (BTI)’s fourth edition Vocational Skills Contest held on the sidelines of the Career Week 2018. Fifty-six trainees participated in the contest that included 15 technical and vocational assorted skills. The minister praised the role of skills contests in boosting Bahraini youths’ proficiencies in their field of training at the BTI to make them the most preferred choice of labour market establishments, reiterating the ministry’s support to the BTI’s efforts to develop its programmes and training services.
