Egypt Welcomes Saudi Arabia's Initiative to End Yemeni Crisis

Cairo, Mar. 22, 2021, SPA -- Egypt welcomed the initiative announced today by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to end the Yemeni crisis and reach a comprehensive political solution in Yemen, through a number of steps that include a comprehensive ceasefire, complete opening of Sana'a Airport, and the start of consultations between the Yemeni parties, under the auspices of the United Nations, based on the GCC Initiative and its executive mechanisms, the outcomes of the comprehensive Yemeni national dialogue and UN Security Council Resolution No. 2216. In a statement, issued by its Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Egypt appreciated the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's sincere efforts to reach a comprehensive settlement in Yemen that ends its political and humanitarian crisis, works to give priority to the interests of Yemeni people and creates the atmosphere for the resumption of the political process with the aim of reaching a comprehensive solution to the Yemeni crisis, calling on all Yemeni parties to respond to the Saudi initiative to the best interest of the Yemeni people. -- SPA
