Egyptian delegation received at GPIC

Manama, July 21 (BNA): A delegation from Egypt’s Abu Qir Fertilisers and Chemical Industries visited the Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) to follow-up on the agreements signed during the recent visit of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to Egypt.
The visit, which serves to enhance relations with Egyptian fertiliser companies, was also an opportunity to exchange experiences and expertise with Bahraini business leaders and skilled workers who are instrumental in the success of GPIC.
The guests were taken around several of GPIC’s manufacturing facilities and were briefed on its operations, production and exports. They were also told about the several environmental projects around the complex and held meetings with departmental heads and directors.
The Egyptian delegates said the visit would contribute to strengthening relations between the two sides for the benefit of the industry and expressed admiration for the sophisticated and state-of-the-art and most modern manufacturing facilities. They said they were also very impressed with GPIC’s efforts at sustainability and described the Company’s environmental projects as unique.
The visitors thanked the company officials for the welcome and the hospitality and expressed the hope such visits would continue.
Speaking on the occasion, GPIC president Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery praised the co-operation between the company and Arab fertilizer companies and said the significant role played by the Egyptian company would contribute towards upgrading of this vital industry in Arab countries.
Speaking on the Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) signed during His Majesty’s visit, he said the company has been keen to follow up on them. He expressed the hope that these would contribute to achieving the aspirations of the leaders of Bahrain and Egypt.
Dr. Jawahery spoke about the growing importance of the fertiliser industry in the Arab world and said it were an important pillar of many countries’ economy. He praised the role of the Arab Fertiliser Association in this regard and said it plays an active part in identifying the problems facing the industry and works to solve all issues.
Dr. Jawahery had, during His Majesty’s visit, signed several Memorandums of Understanding with Abu Qir Chairman Saad El-Maati. These covered training and development; scientific research in the field of fertilisers; exchange technical expertise; maintenance and safety; the environment and in the preparation of the feasibility reports in the field of fertiliser industry studies.
His Majesty King Hamad’s recent visit to Egypt achieved positive and momentous results through His Majesty’s negotiations with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, where His Majesty was received and welcomed with valued hospitality reflecting Egypt’s significant appreciation to the Kingdom of Bahrain.
GPIC, in recent years, has witnessed a rise in production, which has come along with several achievements in the field of maintenance and safety. Abu Qir Fertilisers and Chemical Industries, on the other hand, is regarded as one of the region’s biggest in terms of production and manufacture of chemicals, fertilisers and other related materials. The company is also one of the leading firms in the production and marketing of nitrogen fertilisers in Egypt.
