Egyptian director making TV series on Persian mystic Ghazali

TEHRAN,Dec.26 (MNA)— Egyptian director Ibrahim Al Shawadi is making a TV series on Persian Islamic theologian and mystic Muhammad Ghazali (1058-1111). Egyptian actor Mohammad Riyad was selected to play the role of Ghazali, Egyptian magazine Al-Cinema said. He said that he is now studying the life of Ghazali and some works by him and also books written about him. The TV series faces financial problems to cover expenses for décor, accessories and garments, he said. The screenplay for the TV series, which has been in the planning stage since 2007, is written by Muhammad El-Sayed Eid. Abu Hamid Muhammad ibn Muhammad al-Ghazali (1058-1111) was born and died in Tus, in the Khorasan region. He was an Islamic theologian, jurist, philosopher, cosmologist, psychologist and mystic of Persian origin and remains one of the most celebrated scholars in the history of Sunni Islamic thought.
