Electricity Minister receives Russian delegation

Manama, Sept. 16 (BNA): Electricity and Water Affairs Minister Dr. Abdulhussain Mirza received a parliamentary delegation from the State Duma of the Russian Federation, currently visiting Bahrain under the chairmanship of a member of the International Affairs Committee and Vice-Chairman of the Parliamentary Internal Group Yevgeny Primakov. The delegation consisted of officials from the Russian company Watergen, which specialises in water production, air humidity and immunization techniques. Russian Ambassador to Bahrain Igor Kremenov and Electricity and Water Authority Chief Executive Sheikh Nawaf bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa were also present. Dr. Mirza reviewed with the visitors close relations between Bahrain and Russia in the fields of electricity, water and renewable energy and praised the depth of these historical ties. He stressed keenness of Bahrain’s wise leadership to strengthen those relations, asserting the importance of such visits in allowing the exchange of experiences between the two friendly countries. He briefed the delegation on Bahrain’s achievements in the electricity, water and renewable energy sectors and the investment opportunities available to international companies, especially the Russian companies in these fields. He also listened to an explanation from Watergen officials about an innovative new technology to produce water from air, clean drinking water from air humidity, energy efficient and rational consumption. They expressed their readiness to cooperate with Bahrain in the field. The minister praised the projects and activities of Watergen, and the use of innovative technologies. He said this would undoubtedly contribute to the rationalization of energy consumption and the provision of potable water with a more efficient technology in line with Bahrain’s sustainable development goals. The visitors expressed pleasure at visiting Bahrain and thanked and appreciated the minister and officials for the welcome and hospitality.
