Embassy Promoting Indonesian Culture In Denmark

JAKARTA, July 3 (Antara) - The government through the Indonesian Embassy in Copenhagen is promoting the country's culture through holding a bazaar and cultural festival and introducing its domestic products. Indonesian Ambassador to Denmark Ibnu Said stated in a written statement here on Sunday that promoting Indonesian culture is one of the main tasks of the Indonesian representatives overseas. "The Indonesian embassy in Copenhagen continues to work with Indonesian citizens and its business partners in Denmark to introduce Indonesia's rich culture to the people in Denmark, including Indonesian culinary products," Ibnu Said remarked. He said that the Indonesian and Denmark relations that had been established since 1950 needed to be reinforced with introduction of culinary and cultural products to attract the people of Danish tourists to to Indonesia. In the festival, Indonesia is promoting various dishes such as chicken satay, bakso meat ball soup and other side dishes. The dishes are sold at a price between 15 to 50 kroner or about Rp30,000 to Rp100,000 per portion. The Indonesian embassy also introduced coffee products, biscuits other products. The festival also presented regional dances, kebaya and batik clothes show, Minang wedding party simulation, regional Batak songs and angklung bamboo music. The festival is intended to attract tourists from Denmark where at present the number of tourists from Denmark to Indonesia is about 30 thousand or about 120 thousand from the Scandinavian region. Earlier, the Indonesian embassy has promoted Indonesian tourism destinations when taking part in the Danish Travel Show which is biggest annual tourism expo in the Scandinavian region. It was attended in by about one thousand participants from 42 countries and 65 thousand visitors.
