Emirates ID wins SESAMES 2014 Award

Abu Dhabi (WAM): The Emirates Identity Authority, EIDA, has won the SESAMES 2014 Award for its National Validation Gateway technology in the category of Identification, ID Cards, Health, E-Government. The awards were announced at a special event in Paris, held as part of the Cartes Secure Connexions Exhibition. The U.A.E. ID Authentication Service, also known as the National Validation Gateway, offered by Emirates ID was chosen for the award from among a large number of contestants from around the world. The SESAMES Awards, organised by the Cartes Secure Connexions, reward the 10 best technological innovations in the smart card, digital security, identification, secure and contactless transaction sectors in 10 categories. For this year’s award, 34 applications made it to the shortlist, from among 338 entries from across the globe. The Emirates Identity Authority said that the authority winning the SESAMES 2014 Award is a testimony to the global pre-eminence of the U.A.E.’s identity management infrastructure. According to a press released by EIDA, The National Validation Gateway, which serves as the cornerstone of identity authentication in service delivery in the country, is a historic milestone in the U.A.E.’s transition towards smart governance. It not only allows public service providers to authenticate the identity of service seekers electronically and instantaneously, but also enables electronic signatures in digital transactions using the national identity card. The Validation Gateway also helps save time and money in transactions, in addition to the fact that it helps avoid the use of tons of paper.
