Emirati-Jordanian camp to receive Syrian refugees in Jordan on April 10

Amman, April 7, 2013 (WAM) - Preparations are in full swing to launch a fully serviced joint Emirati-Jordanian camp for Syrian refugees on 10th April. UAE Ambassador to Jordan Abdullah Nasser Al Ameri has undertaken a tour of the “Meraijeb Al Fahoud” camp to inspect final arrangements and other food, educational, housing, health and recreational facilities. He was welcomed upon arrival at the camp by Majed Sultan Bin Sulaiman, head of the UAE relief team, Dr. Khaled Al Saedi, executive director of the Emirates Field Hospital, David Terzi, Head of the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) mission in Jordan, and a number of UAE Red Crescent volunteers. Sulaiman, head of the UAE relief team, said a mechanism of action was in place to manage the camp based on the rich Emirati relief and humanitarian expertise. At the camp, he said, a refugee will get all his daily needs. The camp houses 770 caravans, stores, kitchens, two schools, one for boys and another for girls, a mosque, outdoor and indoor markets and integrated health units. Other facilities also include a water treatment station with a total capacity of 500 cubic metres per day, a 600 cubic metre per day water reservoir, solar-powered heaters, a modern irrigation system and family entertainment zone.“Preparations have completed to receive the first group of refugees,” he added. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
