Energy Minister receives Siemens delegation

08 : 23 PM - 18/05/2016 Manama, May 18 (BNA): Energy Minister Dr. Abdulhussain Mirza received German company Siemens Executive Vice President Wolfgang Braun and other senior officials. They thanked the minister and the Electricity and Water Authority (EWA) officials on the launch of the 400 kV electricity transmission project, which was held under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa on May 11. Dr. Mirza paid tribute to HRH the Premier for patronising the event and attending personally the launch ceremony. He praised Siemens-led efforts to implement a string of strategic and vital schemes in Bahrain, including the 400 KV electricity transmission project. The project will be implemented by the Electricity and Water Authority (EWA) in the next two years and involves the construction of three major electricity transfer stations, at a cost of BD280 million. The project is expected to be commissioned by Braun thanked the minister on the EWA’s co-operation with the company and his efforts to implement the project, while removing all obstacles on the ground. He said the company has been in Bahrain for more than 60 years and continues to be involved in the long-term development plan contained in the Bahrain’s 2030 Economic Vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa, which represents a road map to a strong and stable economy.
