Ethnic Iranian mums to be honored

Shiraz, June 2, IRNA – Seventeen Iranian mothers from Iranian ethnic communities will be selected to be honored as exemplary mothers by an international cultural foundation. Gholamreza Mohammadi, the founder of Mothers Foundation told IRNA that such initiative is meant to show the solidarity among Iranian people. "Honoring the exemplary mothers from 17 various ethnic groups, who despite their different ethnicity and religion are all under the flag of the Islamic Republic of Iran, will showcase once more the solidarity among Iranians," he said. The selection process is conducted through consultations with representatives of the religions in Iran's parliament, and the selected mothers will attend the ceremony in their own traditional clothes, he said. Mothers Foundation is a non-governmental international organization registered in 74 countries across the world, with its newest office to be inaugurated in Georgia after the holy month of Ramadan, he said. Mohammadi also noted that as a result of negotiations with secretary general of Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), the activities of the foundation will see a significant expansion all over the world. ECO is comprised of ten Asian countries –Iran, Turkey, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan—was founded with the goal of broadening economic, technical and cultural cooperation among the member states. The international foundation was established in 2014 to mark the status of mothers in terms of families, societies and culture, as well as promotion of knowledge among young mothers. The ceremony of honoring exemplary mothers is held every two years by the foundation. Follow us on Twitters @IrnaEnglish
