Etisalat and Dubai Cares sign MoU to support humanitarian work

ABU DHABI, 3rd January, 2016 (WAM) -- Etisalat and Dubai Cares yesterday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at supporting the philanthropic efforts of Dubai Cares and promoting its programmes in support of human development initiatives. The MoU was signed by Abdulla Al Mane, General Manager of Etisalat - Dubai Region and Tariq Al Gurg, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Cares at Etisalat’s office in Dubai. Abdullah Al Mana said that the cooperation between the two organisations will promote the philanthropic programmes and educational initiatives undertaken by Dubai Cares locally and internationally, contributing to the UAE’s active role globally in educational development of individuals, which represents the foundation of a community's sustained growth and progress. "This partnership aligns with our vision to help create a knowledge-based society. We believe it is our responsibility and that of other organisations in the UAE to unite in our efforts to support the humanitarian work initiated by our leadership. At Etisalat, we are fulfilling our commitment to the advancement of the UAE community through our services and network capabilities," he said. Commenting on the MoU, Tariq Al Gurg, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Cares said: "Etisalat is a significant partner for Dubai Cares. Through this agreement, Etisalat will help us spread the word in various ways and transmit vital information about our programmes, activities and campaigns directly to members of the community via their mobile phones. We are pleased to utilise the expertise of Etisalat in information technology and telecom through its extensive network of subscribers, which will enhance our communications with the community that supported and contributed to Dubai Cares’ efforts since our inception." As part of this agreement, Etisalat will offer Dubai Cares free SMS service to raise funds from Etisalat subscribers throughout the year, including donations via SMS.
