EU Commission President ends visit to Thailand, off to 9th ASEM in Laos

BANGKOK, November 5 (TNA) - European Commission President José Manuel Barroso wrapped up his two-day official visit to Thailand Monday morning, when he and his entourage departed for Vientiane, Laos' capital, to attend the 9th Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM), scheduled for November 4-6. The European Commission President and his delegation, including his wife, were seen off at Thailand's main Suvarnabhumi International Airport by Thai Commerce Minister Boonsong Teriyapirom on behalf of the Thai government. During his two-day trip to Thailand, the European Commission President, among other activities, met Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra to discuss various issues, aimed to enhance bilateral relations between Thailand and the 27-member European Union (EU).
