EU decisions on Iran not binding for Turkey, says Energy Minister Yildiz

BURSA (A.A) - Turkish Energy and Natural Resources Minister Taner Yildiz said Friday regarding Iran's decision to halt oil transfer to Britain and France over the EU's embargo that the resolution of the United Nations was legally binding for Turkey but EU decisions were not binding for Turkey. Speaking to reporters in the north-western province of Bursa, Yildiz said that "since Turkey is not an EU member, the EU's decisions are not legally binding for Turkey. Turkey can say the same words on the decisions of the United States". I must stress that political instability in the world and region were a burden on Turkey. The price of 124 USD per barrel of oil would add an additional burden of 4 billion USD on the Turkish economy. This is not a small amount, Yildiz added.
