Ex-PM Urges Muslims To Pioneer Discoveries, Technologies With Local Natural Resources

KUALA LUMPUR, July 12 (Bernama) -- Institute of Islamic Understanding Malaysia (Ikim) Chairman Abdullah Ahmad Badawi on Thursday urged Muslims in the country to pioneer discoveries and technologies utilising local natural resources. "We need to be ahead of others as we have rich natural resources which we often do not make use of," said the former prime minister. "Foreign scientists undertake research in our jungles and come up with discoveries from the natural resources we own," he said at the opening of the forum 'Understanding Islam, Building Civilisations' and the launch of the Ikim Internet TV, here. The Ikim Internet TV will introduce four main channels, namely IKIMfm, Perspective, Live Telecast and Exclusive Channel. Abdullah said the Ikim Internet TV was set up to expand the delivery of information on the understanding of Islam, easily and speedily and to a wider Muslim and non-Muslim audience. Members of the public can tune in to the religious academic programmes on Ikim Internet TV by surfing www.internettvikim.my. -- BERNAMA
