Exquisite manuscripts to go on display at Tehran`s Golestan Palace
TEHRAN,Nov.5 (MNA) -- Tehran’s Golestan Palace will display two exquisite manuscripts: “The Shahnameh of Baysunqur” and “Moral and Spiritual Instructions by Khajeh Abdollah Ansari” from November 13 to 20.
The Shahnameh of Baysunqur was created in 1430 for Prince Baysunqur (1399-1433) who was the grandson of Timur (1336-1405) the Turkic ruler of Central Asia.
The Shahnameh represents the quintessence of aesthetic and literary values of the elite rulers of the Timurid Renaissance who dominated Central and Western Asia in the 15th Century.
The exquisite “Moral and Spiritual Instructions by Khajeh Abdollah Ansari” is a collection of advices Khajeh Abdollah gives to scholar and vizier of the Seljuq Empire Khajeh Nizam al-Mulk al-Tusi (1018 – 1092).
The manuscript was written by the titan of the Nastaliq script Mir-Emad (1553-1615) in six volumes. The renowned painter of that time Aqa-Hadi has illustrated the manuscript.
Khajeh Abdollah Ansari also known as Sage of Herat was a famous Persian Sufi who lived in the 11th century in Herat (which was a part of Iran’s Khorasan region at that time). He was commentator of the Quran, polemicist, and spiritual master, known for his oratory and poetic talents in Arabic and Persian.
